Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has just dropped his highly anticipated “Tequila Ever After” album, his first under Def Jam Recordings.
The 17-track album is a captivating fusion of African sounds that have recently gained global recognition, according to uDiscover. It includes hit singles like “Party No Dey Stop,” “Ogaranya,” and tracks from his EP Tio Tequila, which was released earlier this year.
With impressive collaborations, the album features production from Kel-P and Labrinth, and contributions from various artistes, such as Nigerian singer Zinoleesky, Texas superstar Khalid, legends Pharrell Williams and CHIC’s Nile Rodgers, and even Adekunle Gold’s wife Simi. To accompany the release, Adekunle Gold has shared a stunning visualiser for the track “Falling Up,” featuring Williams and Rodgers.
Tequila Ever After marks a significant milestone in Adekunle Gold’s artistic journey, showcasing his growth and experiences as an artist and as a person. He shares, “I’m not the Adekunle Gold who released my first album in 2016. I have a lot more confidence now.”
The album seamlessly blends South African Amapiano, classic R&B, and a captivating mix of Nigerian and American rhythms, solidifying Adekunle Gold’s position as one of Africa’s most essential contemporary musicians and the king of Afro-pop.
As part of the album’s release, Adekunle Gold is set to embark on a North American tour starting in September. The 17-date tour will kick off on Friday, September 22nd, with Canadian-based Afro-R&B singer Nonso Amadi joining as the supporting act.
