Bob Marley and the Wailers’ 1984 compilation Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers has spent 950 weeks on the Billboard 200, according to parade.com. The album becomes only the second in the chart’s history to reach the milestone, joining Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon.
Released in 1984, three years after Marley’s death, Legend became the definitive introduction to his music for millions of listeners.
The compilation includes songs such as “One Love/People Get Ready,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “Is This Love,” “Three Little Birds,” “Buffalo Soldier” and “Redemption Song.”
The 950-week tally represents more than 18 years of appearances on the Billboard 200. Legend has achieved this longevity without ever topping the all-genre chart, peaking instead at number five in 2014, more than three decades after its release. In 2025, it was the top-selling reggae album in the US for the sixth consecutive year, having already passed 924 weeks on the chart at that point.
The Dark Side of the Moon was the first album to reach 950 weeks, achieving the milestone in 2020, and continues to hold the overall record for most weeks on the Billboard 200. Journey’s “Greatest Hits” became the third album to reach 900 weeks in March 2026; Legend had already reached 930 weeks by that time.
Legend has also been a consistent presence atop Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart. Forbes reported in February that the album has sold more than 18 million copies in the US, according to RIAA figures, and more than 43 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling reggae albums of all time.
