A concert film featuring previously unseen 35mm footage of late pop icon George Michael on his 1988 Faith Tour has been acquired for global theatrical distribution, with a worldwide release scheduled in late 2026, per udiscovermusic.com.
Universal Pictures Content Group has secured international rights, while Bleecker Street’s event cinema division, Crosswalk, will handle North American distribution in premium cinema formats.
“George Michael: The Faith Tour” captures the singer during the European leg of his solo tour at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris. The feature relies on restored archival material compiled from a 14-camera shoot filmed across two nights during the height of the musician’s commercial peak.
Longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin directed the project, which was produced by George Michael Entertainment and Globe Originals in partnership with Mercury Studios. Screenings will include an opening short film titled Finding Faith, directed by Mary McCartney. The companion piece incorporates rare voiceover from an unreleased interview with Michael, unseen photography by Herb Ritts, and behind-the-scenes footage from the “Faith” music video set.
Distributors highlighted the cultural significance of releasing the restored material on the big screen. Helen Parker, executive vice-president at Universal Pictures Content Group, described the performances as “electrifying” and cited the singer’s lasting charisma with audiences. Bleecker Street chief executive Kent Sanderson noted that the production offers audiences a direct view of the performer at the apex of his creative influence.
To accompany the cinema rollout, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will publish The Faith Tour live album. The 18-track collection features previously unreleased audio recordings covering material from Michael’s solo work alongside tracks from his tenure with Wham!
