Lauren Bennett, best known for providing vocals on the 2011 global hit “Party Rock Anthem” by electronic dance duo LMFAO, has died at the age of 37, per euronews.com.
No cause of death has yet been reported.
Her former musical group, G.R.L, confirmed the news in a statement released on Instagram, expressing deep sadness at the loss of their bandmate. The surviving members stated that their hearts were broken and that they would forever cherish the love, laughter and memories she shared with them.
The British singer began her commercial music career in 2007 as a member of The Paradiso Girls, a European spin-off of the US group The Pussycat Dolls, before the project disbanded in 2010. She achieved global recognition the following year after collaborating with LMFAO on “Party Rock Anthem,” a track that became a massive worldwide hit and ranked among the most-viewed videos on YouTube for over a decade.
Following her solo success, Bennett joined G.R.L in 2014. The group secured notable commercial success with their popular single Ugly Heart and the track Wild Wild Love, recorded in collaboration with American rapper Pitbull. Bennett is survived by her husband, Kenny, and their six-year-old daughter, Harlow.
The death marks a further tragedy for the girl group, following the loss of founding member Simone Battle, who died by suicide in 2015.
