Uma Thurman has sent the internet into a frenzy after teasing an unexpected cinematic event on Instagram: the long-awaited theatrical debut of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, per parade.com.
The combined, four-hour cut of Quentin Tarantino’s martial arts epic, which was originally released as Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, will finally hit theatres nationwide on December 5.
Thurman, 55, who starred as the iconic assassin The Bride (Beatrix Kiddo), posted a cryptic update on November 6th. The accompanying graphic featured her character and the title, followed by text announcing, “Trailer & Poster Tomorrow.”
The post immediately ignited a firestorm of speculation and excitement among fans, many of whom were completely caught off guard.
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is the director’s cut that fuses Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 into one continuous film. While it previously screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 and sporadically at Tarantino’s own New Beverly Cinema, it has never received a true nationwide theatrical release until now.
According to earlier reports, this definitive cut will also feature a never-before-seen animated sequence running over seven minutes long, adding even more intrigue for die-hard fans.
Tarantino expressed his excitement about the release in a statement: “I wrote and directed it as one movie – and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie. The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theatre in Glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair premieres in theatres on December 5.
