2025 National Book Award for Fiction longlist announced

The National Book Foundation announced the longlist for the 2025 National Book Award for Fiction, featuring 10 acclaimed authors vying for one of literature’s most prestigious honours, per lithub.com. The selections were chosen from a pool of 434 books submitted for consideration by their publishers. This year’s judges for Fiction are Rumaan Alam (Chair), Debra Magpie Earling, Attica Locke, Elizabeth McCracken and Cody Morrison.

Among the notable titles on the list are Susan Choi’s Flashlight, Karen Russell’s The Antidote, and Bryan Washington’s Palaver. The list also includes works from Rabih Alameddine, Angela Flournoy, Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Megha Majumdar, Kevin Moffett, Ethan Rutherford and Joy Williams.

These 10 authors represent a diverse range of voices and literary styles, all praised for their exceptional storytelling and profound impact. The finalists across all categories will be revealed on Tuesday, October 7, building anticipation for the grand 76th National Book Awards Ceremony on November 19, where the winners will be celebrated.
