Sarah Jessica Parker reads 2 books daily as Booker Prize judge

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t just a fashion icon and beloved actress, she’s also a voracious reader, tackling up to two books a day as she prepares for her prestigious role as a Booker Prize judge this year, per pagesix.com.

The And Just Like That… star, 60, revealed the staggering reading load at the PEN America Literary Gala, where she was honoured for her contributions to literature. “It’s intense,” Parker said. “The volume is kind of hard to convey… it’s quite something.”

The Booker Prize, one of the most esteemed literary awards, requires judges to sift through hundreds of novels. Parker, who runs her own book imprint, SJP Lit, called the role an “honour” but admitted the workload is no joke. Fortunately, her schedule has allowed her to dive in headfirst. “I’m reading morning till night,” she said. “Any opportunity that exists to read, I’m reading.”

A lifelong bookworm, Parker credits her mother for instilling a love of reading early on. “We were not allowed to leave the house without a book, even as toddlers,” she shared. Now, she’s passing that passion to her three children, calling books “the greatest possible friends you could have.”

The star-studded gala also featured authors like Jodi Picoult, Judy Blume and Michael Cunningham. Picoult, known for her bestselling novels, addressed critics of her political posts, stating, “All books are political; nobody writes in a vacuum.”
