‘G20’ star Viola Davis on working with artists often ‘relegated to periphery’

Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis dazzled at the premiere of her new Amazon action thriller “G20” at the TCL Chinese Theatre, calling the film a “real hero story” with a powerful message, per africanews.com.

Davis stars as the US President in “G20,” directed by Patricia Riggen. The film follows a reluctant leader balancing global crises and a rebellious teenage daughter. “It’s a perfect narrative for a reluctant hero,” Davis told reporters.

The star also highlighted her commitment to uplifting marginalised voices through JuVee Productions, the company she co-founded with her husband, Julius Tennon.

“Our mandate is to spotlight a broad spectrum of humanity—artists often relegated to the periphery who have incredible stories to tell,” she said.

“G20” streams on Prime Video starting April 10.
