Will Smith is making a major comeback in the music industry with his first studio album in two decades, per upi.com. Titled “Based on a True Story,” the highly anticipated project is set to drop on March 28 and features a blend of new and previously released tracks.
The album boasts an impressive lineup of guest artistes. Hip-hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff and Simone join Smith on the opening track, Int. Barbershop Day. Teyana Taylor lends her vocals to “Hard Times,” while Jac Ross makes an appearance on “Bulletproof.” Other fresh additions include “You Lookin’ for Me?,” “Rave in the Wasteland” and “Make It Look Easy”.
Fans have already heard some of the project’s standout singles. “First Love” features India Martinez and Marcin, while “Beautiful Scars” includes Big Sean and OBanga. “Tantrum” sees Smith teaming up with Joyner Lucas—who famously paid tribute to him in his 2020 track “Will.”
Meanwhile, “You Can Make It” features Fridayy and Sunday Service, and “Works of Art” pairs Smith with Russ and his son, Jaden Smith.
The album marks Smith’s first since 2005’s Lost and Found, a period in which he focused primarily on acting. However, his love for music never faded. To celebrate the upcoming release, Smith shared a playful Instagram video of himself dancing with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Tatyana Ali and rapper Doechii.
“Waited 35 years for this dance to trend,” he captioned the clip.
With “Based on a True Story,” Smith is proving that his music career is far from over.
