“Chaos, Kindly” exhibition redefines disorder as a creative force at Kokopelli Gallery

Kokopelli Gallery is set to captivate art enthusiasts with its latest group exhibition, “Chaos, Kindly,” a thought-provoking showcase that reimagines chaos as a transformative and generative force.

Running from March 23 to April 5, the exhibition coincides with Lagos Gallery Weekend and features works by four visionary artists: Imomoh Edgar Asemokah, Chinaza Nkemka, Adubi Mydaz, and Damilare Jamiu.

Located at 17 Ademola Street, Ikoyi, the gallery invites visitors to explore the beauty of spontaneity and the unexpected.

“Chaos, Kindly” challenges the conventional perception of disorder as disruptive, presenting it instead as a vital collaborator in the creative process. The exhibition delves into the moments before structure emerges, celebrating impulse, accident and the harmony that arises when control is relinquished. Through a diverse array of paintings and interactive installations, the artists embrace unpredictability, allowing their works to evolve organically and pulse with raw energy.

Among the highlights is Chinaza Nkemka’s “Self,” a mixed-media portrait that explores the fluidity of identity. The piece’s fragmented features and expressive textures reflect the unpredictability of self-perception, urging viewers to confront the ever-shifting nature of existence. Similarly, Adubi Mydaz’s “Fire Dance” and “Spirit Dance” from the “Echoes from the Soul” series transform movement into visual poetry. These works capture the intensity of love, loss and resilience through fluid, expressive gestures that culminate in bold, cathartic revelations.

The exhibition invites audiences to reconsider chaos not as something to fear, but as a generous and necessary force. It poses a compelling question: What if chaos is not destruction, but a collaborator in creation?

Kokopelli Gallery, known for its dedication to showcasing innovative artists who master the art of storytelling, provides the perfect setting for this exploration. Established in 2021, the gallery has become a hub for creatives and art lovers alike, fostering dialogue and tradition through its multi-roomed space, which includes The Grotto, an immersive meditation area.

“Chaos, Kindly” promises to be a must-see event for art collectors, enthusiasts and the general public. The gallery’s opening hours are Sundays to Mondays from 2 to 5pm, and Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm. For more information, visit www.kokopelliafrica.com.
