Hope Davis cast as Nancy Reagan in ‘Reykjavik’ political drama

“Reykjavik,” a political drama depicting a pivotal summit between the US and the Soviet Union, has added Hope Davis, Branka Katic and Aya Cash to its star-studded cast, per variety.com. The film, which began shooting in Iceland this week, already boasts an impressive lineup including Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan, Jared Harris as Mikhail Gorbachev and J.K. Simmons as Secretary of State George Shultz.

Hope Davis, known for her Broadway performance alongside Daniels in God of Carnage, will portray Nancy Reagan. Branka Katic will play Raisa Gorbachev, the Soviet leader’s wife, while Aya Cash takes on the role of a young journalist covering the historic Reykjavik Summit. Filming commenced on Tuesday at Höfði House, the actual site of the 1986 meeting where Reagan and Gorbachev made decisions that significantly impacted global politics.

The film is written, directed, and produced by Michael Russell Gunn, known for Thai Cave Rescue. John Logan Pierson joins as a producer, with 2521 Entertainment partnering with SK Global to finance and produce the project.

Hope Davis is set to appear in the Apple TV limited series Before with Billy Crystal and Wes Anderson’s The Poenician Scheme. Her recent credits include Showtime’s Your Honor, HBO’s Perry Mason, and roles in Succession, In Treatment and Captain America: Civil War.

Branka Katic, a Serbian actress, gained international fame with Black Cat White Cat and has appeared in Warriors, Breaking and Entering and Public Enemies. Her TV credits include Entourage, Bored to Death and Big Love.

Aya Cash stars in HBO’s The Franchise and will lead and executive produce the Amazon Prime series Vought Rising, a prequel to The Boys. Her recent work includes The Girl From Plainville, The First Lady and Welcome to Flatch.
