The Saltzman Prize, initiated by philanthropist and artist Lisa Saltzman, has revealed its inaugural shortlist, featuring 10 promising photographers, per artsy.net.
In collaboration with the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW), this prestigious accolade offers a $10,000 reward along with a solo exhibition at PHOTOFAIRS New York, slated for September at the Javits Center.
Among the diverse group of nominees are French Nigerian artist and researcher Wilfred Ukpong and San Francisco-based Trina Robinson. The shortlist also includes contemporary talents like Caroline Tompkins from New York, Eric Gyamfi from Ghana, Nhu Xuan Hua from France, Hailun Ma from China, Rory Mulligan from Upstate New York, Keisha Scarville from Brooklyn, Hady Barry from Guinea, and Patrice Aphrodite Helmar from Alaska.

The final winner, to be announced in March, will be chosen by a jury comprising renowned figures in the field of photography, including MacArthur fellow Deborah Willis and Magnum Foundation president Susan Meiselas. This announcement marks a significant moment in recognizing and supporting emerging talents in the world of photography.
