Greatness interrupted
A promising future truncated
Unbeknownst, she boarded Charon’s ferry
Hijacked by fiends in search of quarry
Hippocrates was on vacation
And hope forlorn for her salvation
An inexplicable furlough
In that noble borough
The gates were locked
And all hope was lost
And so, she died
Salvation denied
A victim of oaths forgotten
Alas, Greatness unbegotten
Just more innocent fodder
For the itinerant marauder
While the city guards ponder
The knaves continue to wander
All the citizens hear is death’s drum
And therein lies the conundrum.
