Rele Gallery, a leading contemporary art gallery in Lagos, Nigeria, is hosting a new exhibition titled “At Once, Then Again: Selections from Practice,” featuring works by 10 young and talented artists who participated in the gallery’s Young Contemporaries Residency Programme. The exhibition opened on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the gallery’s Lagos location and will run until September 30, 2023.
The exhibition celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Young Contemporaries Residency, which provides mentorship, studio space and exhibition opportunities to emerging artists working across various mediums and genres.
The works on display reflect the artistic evolution and experimentation of the selected artists, who have explored diverse themes and stylistic approaches in their practice. From intimate portraits in tea and charcoal by Odinakachi Okoroafor to sprawling textile installations by Laju Sholola, the exhibition showcases the richness and variety of contemporary art in Nigeria.
At Once, Then Again: Selections from Practice also highlights the gallery’s commitment to supporting social causes and giving back to the community. Rele Gallery has partnered with The Zeebah Foundation, a non-profit organisation that provides care and services to children on the autism spectrum. A portion of the sales proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the foundation, supporting their unwavering dedication to improving the lives of autistic children and their families.
Rele Gallery invites art lovers and enthusiasts to join them in commemorating a legacy of creativity, care and continued support as the exhibition, free and open to the public, continues.
