Vaseem Khan, Robert Galbraith,
Abir Mukherjee and Anna Mazzola are among the authors shortlisted for the Historical Crime Novel of the Year at the 2023 Capital Crime Award.
Robert Galbraith, the pseudonym of J.K. Rowling, was previously shortlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier crime novel of the year award in 2016 for Career of Evil.
Khan and Galbraith have been shortlisted for the 2023 Capital Crime Award. Abir Mukherjee, Robert Galbraith, and Anna Mazzola are shortlisted for the Historical Crime Novel of the Year for their books The Shadows of Men, The Lost Man of Bombay, and The Stranger Diaries, respectively.
The other categories are Crime Debut of the Year, Capital Crime Book of the Year, and the Amazon Publishing Readers’ Awards. Galbraith was also shortlisted for the The Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) Daggers in 2021 for Troubled Blood. Mark Billingham, who has won the Theakston Old Peculier crime novel of the year award twice, was also shortlisted in 2016. Val McDermid was awarded an award for her outstanding contribution to crime fiction on the same night.
CWA Dagger Awards, which recognise excellence in crime writing, were awarded in 2022 to Ray Celestin, Janice Hallett and Mark Billingham.
