Antonio Banderas and Rachel Zegler will both be starring in the upcoming movie “Paddington in Peru,” which is the third installment of the Paddington franchise.
The movie will also star Olivia Colman and Emily Mortimer and is set to start filming in July 2023. Banderas will play the role of Hunter Cabot, a dashing and intrepid riverboat captain who offers to help the Brown family on their Peruvian adventure, while Zegler will play the role of Cabot’s daughter Gina.
“Paddington in Peru” will be directed by Dougal Wilson and produced by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Mark Burton. The movie is set to begin production on July 24, 2023, and is expected to film in both the UK and Peru.
The plot details are being kept under wraps, but as the title suggests, the movie will see Paddington getting into sticky situations in Peru, his country of birth.
Although the cast details are unknown at this point, it is reported that the movie will feature a mixture of a new and returning voice cast. Ben Whishaw, who voiced Paddington in the previous two films, is expected to return. Olivia Colman, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, and Rachel Zegler have been confirmed to join the cast. The movie is expected to be released in the 2023 holiday season or sometime in early to mid-2024. Dougal Wilson, who will be making his feature debut with the upcoming project, expressed his excitement and responsibility for continuing the story of Paddington, saying that “all my efforts will be focused on making a third film that honours the love so many people have for this very special bear”.
