50 Cent settles assault case days before Diddy docuseries launch

Rapper 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) has reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit alleging assault, just days before the release of his much-anticipated Netflix docuseries about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, which he executive-produced, per complex.com.

The lawsuit was filed by Guadalupe de los Santos, who claimed the incident occurred last September in Los Angeles. According to the complaint, Mr. de los Santos was waiting on his scooter at a traffic light when an SUV allegedly associated with the rapper approached. He claims the passenger door then “suddenly and forcefully opened, without warning or provocation, and struck [him] on his left side, knocking him and his scooter to the street.”

Mr. de los Santos had been seeking damages for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

The settlement was reached swiftly, coming approximately a month before the scheduled court hearing on December 22, where 50 Cent was due to present a motion to dismiss the case.

A motion was filed on November 25, confirming that both the plaintiff and defendant had “reached an agreement in principle to resolve all claims” and were currently finalising the formal settlement agreement.

In related news, 50 Cent recently weighed in on the issue of “snitch culture” within hip-hop during an interview with Gold Derby. He suggested that it is an inherent part of the culture, referring to the lack of challenge Diddy faced for years. “They think they’re telling, or something,” he remarked.
