The highly anticipated centennial celebration, “100 Years of Pop Music in Nigeria,” has been postponed by one day, with all events now consolidated to Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the J. Randle Centre, Onikan Round About, Lagos Island.
Originally scheduled to commence on Friday, December 5, the organisers issued an apology, citing a “Mainframe event” at the nearby Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). This external event is expected to cause significant road closures, traffic congestion and large crowds in the immediate vicinity, making access difficult for attendees.

The decision, said the organisers, was made to prioritise the “convenience of our guests.”
The celebration, marking 100 years of Nigerian popular music (1925-2025), is a verifiable cultural feast for music enthusiasts, and will now kick off with the full line-up on December 6.

The highlight is a fireside chat titled “Please Leave Your Ego at the Door Sir: The Jazzville Years Recalled”. It will feature Muyiwa Majekodunmi, Founder of Jazzville, in conversation with Social Historian Ed Keazor, scheduled for 7pm.
A screening of the documentary “Rolling Dollar: A Legend Unplugged,” a Femi Odugbemi documentary, is also scheduled for 6pm.
The core celebration, featuring museum installations, a photo exhibition and film screenings, will officially open to the public on December 6 and run until January 4. 2026.
The organisers invite the public to join them for the rearranged celebration of this musical milestone.
