Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist have announced they are set to wed following a high-profile proposal in the rapper’s home city, per vibe.com.
During his “Hometown Hero: Young Thug & Friends” benefit concert on Tuesday night (16 December), the 34-year-old rapper paused the music at the State Farm Arena to surprise the crowd. As the words “Will You Marry Me?” flashed across the stadium screens, he dropped to one knee to present a significant diamond ring to the singer-songwriter.

A beaming Mariah, 28, accepted the proposal to a roar of approval from the audience. “Guess I’m getting married,” she told the crowd before the couple shared a celebratory embrace on stage.
The engagement follows a period of public speculation regarding the pair’s four-year, on-off relationship. While the rapper had hinted at a split during a live stream in October, the couple quickly reconciled, later telling reporters they were “still going strong.”
The timing appears particularly apt for Mariah. Speaking recently to Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez, the singer expressed her desire to settle down. “I want to be married,” she revealed. “That’s my plan. I want a commitment that doesn’t involve an obligation… I just want it to be out of love.”
The couple, who were recently spotted courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers game, have received a flood of well-wishes from fans and peers alike as they prepare to “jump the broom.”
