Wolf Alice announce ‘The Clearing’ album, share ‘Bloom Bloom Bloom’ single

Critically acclaimed British rock band Wolf Alice has returned, announcing their highly anticipated fourth album, “The Clearing,” alongside the release of their electrifying comeback single, “Bloom Bloom Bloom” after four years of relative silence, per faroutmagazine.co.uk. The news follows weeks of cryptic social media posts, building anticipation for this new chapter.

According to the magazine, “Bloom Bloom Bloom” explodes with a captivating piano intro that swells into a powerful rock anthem, driven by thumping drums and layered with textured backing vocals. Ellie Rowsell’s vocals soar on the anthemic chorus, delivering poignant lyrics about resilience and self-worth: “But I’ll bloom, baby, bloom / Watch me, yeah, you’ll see just what I’m worth.”

Described by the band as “both playful and serious, ironic and straight-talking,” “The Clearing” promises a “progressive shift” while retaining their signature exploration of love, loss and human connection. They hint at a classic pop/rock sound with a ’70s influence, imagining what a modern-day Fleetwood Mac album from North London might sound like.

The music video for “Bloom Bloom Bloom,” directed by Colin Solal Cardo and featuring choreography by Ryan Heffington, showcases Rowsell amidst a dynamic ensemble of dancers. Rowsell herself stated she aimed for a powerful rock performance reminiscent of Axl Rose, while singing about the experience of being a woman.

Following their last successful album, Blue Weekend, which topped the UK charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination, Wolf Alice is set to release The Clearing on Friday, August 29th via Sony Music. Fans can catch them at intimate shows in Ireland next week, followed by appearances at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend and the iconic Glastonbury Festival.
