Wiz Khalifa could be heading to prison in Romania after a court upheld a nine-month sentence for cannabis possession, hiphopdx.com reports.
The Constanța Court of Appeal ruled on Thursday to overturn a previous decision that had merely fined the 38-year-old rapper 3,000 Romanian lei (approximately £550). Instead, the court has opted for a custodial sentence, citing the country’s strict laws regarding “unlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use.”

The charges stem from an incident in July 2024 at the Beach, Please! Festival in Costinești. The Pittsburgh native was arrested after smoking what appeared to be a joint on stage. Local authorities later confirmed he was found in possession of 18.53 grams of cannabis.
While the sentence has been upheld, sources close to the Rolling Papers star suggest the legal battle is not over. “Nothing is set in stone just yet,” a representative stated, confirming that the rapper’s legal team is currently in the process of appealing the nine-month term.
Following the initial arrest, Khalifa issued an apology on X stating: “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
The legal trouble in Eastern Europe stands in stark contrast to the rapper’s lifestyle in the US. In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Khalifa admitted to smoking roughly 30 joints a day, dismissing the high volume by noting he remains a productive father and professional.
