The Warwick Prize for Women in Translation 2025 is now accepting submissions, celebrating the work of women writers worldwide. According to a statement, the prize, administered by the University of Warwick, is open to novels, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections, creative or literary non-fiction, children’s or young adult fiction, graphic novels, or play texts originally written in any language other than English by a woman of any nationality. Translations into English, published in print in the UK or Ireland between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, are eligible, regardless of the translator’s gender.
The prize welcomes re-translations, co-translations, self-translations, and co-authored works, though anthologies with multiple authors are excluded. Publishers are invited to submit eligible titles via an online form by May 2, 2025, and provide four hard copies of each entry by May 9, 2025. There’s no submission fee or limit on entries, encouraging publishers to nominate all qualifying works.
Holly Langstaff, a representative for the prize, expressed gratitude to supporters in an email announcement, emphasising the award’s mission to amplify women’s voices in translation. The list of eligible submissions will be released by late May, with the longlist and shortlist unveiled in October and November, respectively. The winner will be celebrated at a London ceremony on November 27.
Now in its latest iteration, the Warwick Prize continues to spotlight diverse, translated literature by women, fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
