The United Kingdom was the clear winner at the 53rd International Emmy Awards, hosted in New York City on Monday night, sweeping up seven of the 16 competitive trophies, per deadline.com.
The UK-produced drama Rivals took home the coveted award for Best Drama Series, while the UK’s Ludwig secured the prize for Best Comedy Series.
The ceremony, hosted by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, celebrated winners drawn from a record 64 nominees across 26 countries.
Adding to the UK’s success, Anna Maxwell Martin won Best Performance by an Actress for her role in Until I Kill You. Spain’s Oriol Pla claimed the Best Performance by an Actor award for his work in Yo, adicto [I, Addict].

In addition to the competitive categories, the evening included special honours. Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden received the International Emmy Founders Award, recognising her significant contributions to the art and business of television. Brazil’s Grupo Globo president João Roberto Marinho was presented with the International Emmy Directorate Award.
