Tweet has signed a new record deal with SRG-ILS Group, a label that also includes artistes like Lalah Hathaway and Johnny Gill, according to ratedrnb.com. The partnership will see the release of the veteran R&B singer’s highly anticipated fourth album, “The Memoirs of The Southern Hummingbird,” this fall.
The album is a significant follow-up to her platinum-selling debut, Southern Hummingbird, released in 2002.
Claude Villani, CEO of SRG-ILS Group, described the new project as “a perfect record for people who love real Soul, R&B, and just great music.”
The “Oops (Oh My)” singer expressed her excitement, stating that the project is “long overdue.” She added, “My fans have waited a very long time, and I’m finally able to share it with the world. I look forward to making history together.”
Ahead of the album’s release, Tweet will drop a reimagined version of her 2010 track “Love Again” on September 11, followed by the official lead single, “Toot-Toot,” on September 26.
This marks Tweet’s first album since 2016’s Charlene. Over the past decade, she has released several singles, including “Neva Gonna Break My Heart Again” in 2021 and a cover of Curtis Mayfield’s “The Makings of You” with Charlie Bereal.
