Timothée Chalamet wins best actor at SAG Award

Timothée Chalamet etched his name into Hollywood history by winning the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Best Actor for his transformative portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, per variety.com. At just 29, Chalamet became the youngest actor to claim the prestigious honour, surpassing Nicolas Cage, who was 32 when he won for Leaving Las Vegas in 1995.

During his heartfelt acceptance speech, Chalamet didn’t shy away from expressing his lofty ambitions. “I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” he declared. “I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight—Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, Viola Davis—and I want to be up there with them.”

Chalamet also paid tribute to his mother, who has worked at Actors Equity for 40 years, and reflected on the immense effort he poured into the role. “This was five and a half years of my life,” he shared. “I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan, a true American hero. It’s an honor I share with the entire cast and crew.”

The win marks Chalamet’s first SAG Award after three individual nominations, including nods for Call Me by Your Name (2017) and Beautiful Boy (2018).
