Timothée Chalamet fuels rumours he’s anonymous rapper EsDeeKid

Timothée Chalamet has refused to confirm or deny widespread speculation that he is the mysterious, balaclava-wearing British rapper, EsDeeKid, per cnn.com.

The anonymous musician has become a viral sensation, boasting 11.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify since releasing his debut album, Rebel, in June.

Appearing on the Heart Breakfast radio show to promote his new film, Marty Supreme, the Hollywood star was confronted directly about the rumours by hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston.

“Your fans have lost their minds and they are saying that you are EsDeeKid,” Holden stated, before Theakston bluntly asked the Dune star, “Is that true?”

The 29-year-old actor’s immediate response only stoked the fire.

“I got no comment on that,” replied Chalamet, who was then met with gasps and an audible “Oh, come on.”

When pressed further, Chalamet insisted, “I got no comment,” before eventually adding a tantalising sign-off: “All will be revealed in due time.”

The theories linking Chalamet to the rapper have flooded social media. Fans have noted the physical resemblance between the two, particularly their eyes, and pointed to shared wardrobe choices, including the same skull-print scarf.

Theakston also reminded the actor of his past as a rapper: “You were a rapper in school,” to which Chalamet conceded, “Lil Timmy Tim,” though he quickly quipped, “Let me tell you, Lil Timmy does not have the same ring to it.”

Adding to the mystery, Chalamet was spotted at a concert by British rapper Fakemink, who features on EsDeeKid’s viral track, LV Sandals.

While a major sticking point remains the rapper’s distinct Liverpool accent, fans believe Chalamet’s Oscar-nominated acting skills could easily account for a mastered dialect.
