Award-winning actor Timini Egbuson and acclaimed filmmaker Kayode Kasum have joined forces to create “Reel Love,” a romantic drama set to premiere this Valentine’s season.
The film, co-produced with FilmOne Studios, will, according to a statement, debut at an exclusive Lagos premiere on February 9, 2025, followed by a nationwide release on February 14.
The production brings together an all-star ensemble cast featuring some of Nollywood’s most respected names, including Funke Akindele, Dakore Akande and Shaffy Bello. Rising star T.J. Omusuku makes her leading role debut alongside established talents Bimbo Ademoye, Efa Iwara and Atlanta Bridget Johnson.
“This project is deeply personal to me,” says Egbuson, who both produces and stars in the film. “It marks an exciting new chapter in my career, and I’m incredibly proud to bring this story to life with such a talented team.”
The film explores a complex love triangle while weaving themes of resilience and life’s unexpected journeys into its narrative. This marks the latest collaboration between Egbuson and director Kasum, whose previous successful ventures include Ajosepo, Something Like Gold and Dwindle.
FilmOne Studios’ involvement as co-producer adds significant industry weight to the project, combining their distribution expertise with the creative vision of Egbuson and Kasum.
The Valentine’s Day release timing appears strategic, positioning “Reel Love” to capitalise on both the romantic season and growing international interest in Nigerian cinema.
The film is expected to mark another milestone in Nollywood’s journey toward international prominence, presenting a fresh perspective on romantic drama within African cinema while maintaining cultural authenticity.
