The Rolling Stones have announced their new album, “Hackney Diamonds”, and premiered the video for its first single, the hard-rocking “Angry,” at a press conference in East London.
A stunning comeback for The Rolling Stones, rock icons for over six decades, “Angry,” offers a tantalising taste of the forthcoming album. After an 18-year hiatus from releasing original studio material, this legendary band is proving they’re far from done.
Despite the passing of their beloved drummer, Charlie Watts, in 2021, The Rolling Stones have returned to their roots with this track brimming with the signature riffwork and electric guitar mastery of Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood. The ageless Mick Jagger delivers a powerful performance.
What sets “Angry” apart is its modern touch in the chorus, a nod to the 21st century without losing the Stones’ essence. The band strikes a balance between innovation and authenticity, reminiscent of their iconic fusion with disco on “Miss You” 45 years ago.
The album “Hackney Diamonds,” comprising 12 tracks, remains shrouded in mystery. However, the modern touch extends to its production, handled by Andrew Watt, known for his work with Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and Elton John.
Set for release on October 20, 2023, via Geffen Records, the Stones’ resilience and musical evolution shine brightly in “Angry,” reaffirming their status as rock legends who defy the passage of time.
