Quinton Aaron, the actor best known for his breakout role in the Oscar-winning film The Blind Side, is currently recovering in hospital after suffering a spinal stroke, per tmz.com.
In an exclusive statement released on Thursday, Aaron’s family confirmed the diagnosis, noting that the actor has been hospitalised for approximately one week. While they acknowledged he has required life support during this period, the family shared a positive update, stating that Quinton is now “alert, aware, and recovering.”

The family expressed deep gratitude for the “overwhelming love, support, and prayers” from fans but issued a firm request for privacy as they manage his rehabilitation. They also warned against the spread of misinformation, clarifying that Liana Mendoza, a lifelong friend, is the only authorised spokesperson alongside his immediate relatives.
“The Aaron family has a lot to deal with for the betterment of their loved one,” the statement read. “We kindly ask the public to please respect the decisions we make.”

The family further cautioned that any unauthorised disclosure of medical details could lead to legal repercussions regarding privacy law violations.
According to medical experts at the Cleveland Clinic, a spinal stroke occurs when the blood supply to the spinal cord is disrupted. This is typically caused by blood clots blocking the flow or hemorrhages (bleeding) within the spinal column.
Unlike typical strokes that affect the brain, spinal strokes disrupt the signals travelling between the brain and the rest of the body, often requiring intensive physical therapy during recovery.
