The Alchemist & Hit-Boy announce joint album, short film

Two of modern hip-hop’s most celebrated producers, The Alchemist and Hit-Boy, are officially joining forces for a full-length collaborative album, “Goldfish,” set for release on October 24 via EMPIRE, per hiphopdx.com.

The highly anticipated project will see the acclaimed beatmakers trade roles, with each producer-MC rapping over the other’s production – a dynamic reminiscent of the legendary Jaylib duo (J Dilla and Madlib).

The album announcement comes paired with news of a short film of the same name, also due out on October 24. The film reportedly follows “a squad of hit men disguised as carpet cleaners attempting to leave a life of crime in a chaotic flurry of events.”

The cinematic venture will feature appearances from notable actors, including Heat and Con Air star Danny Trejo and Scary Movie 3’s Simon Rex.

The duo began the album rollout with the release of the lead single, “Business Merger.” The high-energy track, featuring thumping, horn-laced production courtesy of The Alchemist, showcased the pair trading clever, confident verses, reminding fans that their skills on the mic are just as sharp as their legendary production work.

The Alchemist and Hit-Boy’s natural chemistry is well-established. They have already collaborated on two previous joint projects: the three-song Theodore & Andre EP and Black & Whites, a collaboration that also featured Hit-Boy’s father, rapper Big Hit.

They also previously linked up for the one-off single “Slipping Into Darkness” and split production credits on Benny The Butcher‘s Def Jam debut, Everybody Can’t Go.
