The Alchemist denies album with Erykah Badu was set to drop, sparking confusion

The Alchemist has denied that his highly anticipated collaboration album with Erykah Badu was ever scheduled to drop last week, per hiphopdx.com. The project, titled “Abi & Alan,” was believed by many—including Badu herself—to be releasing on Friday, August 29.

However, The Alchemist took to social media to push back on the claims. “Please show me where I said anything was coming out today,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. He added, “If you follow me, you know when I got something to drop. I make it very clear when it’s available and where.”

The producer’s comments directly contradict a video statement from Badu, where she announced a delay and said, “The Alchemist told me to tell y’all the album is not dropping at midnight.”

The duo first teased the project in December 2024, with details remaining scarce since they made the collaboration official in March. While fans eagerly await a new release date, the conflicting statements from the two artistes have only added to the mystery surrounding the project.
