Teyana Taylor “already begging” Paul Thomas Anderson for sequel to “One Battle After Another”

Teyana Taylor is eager to reprise her role as the revolutionary Perfidia Beverly Hills, revealing she is already lobbying director Paul Thomas Anderson for a follow-up to his latest hit, per film-news.co.uk.

Despite receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the comedy-thriller, Taylor’s character only appears in the film’s extended prologue. The plot follows Perfidia as she flees to Mexico to evade imprisonment, before jumping forward 16 years to focus on her former partner, Bob (Leonardo DiCaprio), and their daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti).

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor admitted she is haunted by the character’s unseen journey. “I often think about what her 16 years were like and her having to live through the choices she made,” she explained. “It makes me excited to see what would happen if we did a part two. There’s a lot of space to create something magical there.”

When asked if she had broached the subject with the Boogie Nights auteur, she confirmed: “I’m already begging.”

The film has become a major awards season heavyweight, leading the Golden Globe nominations with nine nods, including Best Picture (Musical or Comedy). Alongside Taylor, co-stars DiCaprio, Infiniti, Sean Penn, and Benicio del Toro have all earned individual recognition.

Reflecting on the film’s impact, the singer-turned-actress said she hoped the project would “create healthy dialogue” regarding its “uncomfortable, harsh realities.”
