Tessa Thompson has played coy regarding a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday,” according to a film-news.co.uk report.
The 42-year-old actress, who debuted as Valkyrie in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, was last seen in 2023’s The Marvels. Despite Doomsday boasting the largest character roster in franchise history, Thompson refused to confirm her involvement during a recent interview with The Playlist.

“Oh, [I’m] not able to confirm anything,” she stated, though she was quick to express her enduring affection for the role. “I just love the character so much that I would always be interested.”
Thompson praised the “tonal spaces” and the calibre of talent within the MCU, calling the opportunity to work with its directors and craftspeople “the coolest thing.”
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for release on 18 December 2026. The blockbuster features a massive ensemble, including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Florence Pugh, alongside the return of X-Men legends such as Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen. Robert Downey Jr. also returns to the franchise, this time as the villainous Doctor Doom.
Production is already yielding headlines, as co-star Alan Cumming recently joked about an onset mishap with Pedro Pascal. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cumming revealed: “In my first scene with Pedro, he hurt his neck and had to go home. I broke Pedro.” He clarified the injury was a “production slip-up” rather than a scripted fight scene.
