Taylor Swift & Hugh Jackman allegedly saw Ryan Reynolds “unload” on Justin Baldoni over Blake Lively “fat-shaming”

Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman were allegedly present when Ryan Reynolds confronted actor-director Justin Baldoni over concerns of ‘fat-shaming’ his wife, Blake Lively, according to a newly unsealed legal document, per people.com.

The explosive claim is detailed within an exhibit in the ongoing legal dispute between actress Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

A timeline of events, sent via email in July 2024 from Wayfarer Studios co-founder Jamey Heath’s team to Baldoni’s publicist, has been unsealed as part of the proceedings.

According to the document, an alleged confrontation took place on 25 April 2023, when Baldoni visited Reynolds and Lively’s New York City penthouse.

The email claims that Mr Reynolds, 49, “unloaded” on Baldoni, 41, over “how horrible it was” for him to enquire about a woman’s weight. Reynolds allegedly claimed Baldoni “was fat shaming Blake,” leading to Baldoni becoming “completely embarrassed and apologised and even shared some tears.”

Crucially, the internal studio recap listed that the couple’s famous friends, Taylor Swift, 35, and Hugh Jackman, 57, “were also present in the apt at the time” of the meeting.

Representatives for Ms Swift and Mr Jackman have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Lively, 38, is currently suing Baldoni and others, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation, claims which he strongly denies. Their trial is scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Ms Swift and Mr Jackman were previously listed as potential witnesses by Lively’s legal team.

The issue of weight has been a central point in the legal action. In her amended complaint, Lively’s lawyers accused Baldoni of “finding back-channel ways of criticizing her body and weight” during the film’s production. The complaint alleged that Lively “was humiliated to learn that Mr. Baldoni secretly called her fitness trainer without her knowledge or permission, and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks.”

Baldoni’s legal team has maintained that his contact with the trainer was purely to ensure safety, explaining that he sought to ascertain Lively’s weight “so that he could train his back muscles in preparation for a lift scene” and avoid injury due to his “lifelong back injuries.”

Baldoni’s own lawyers previously detailed the intensity of the alleged meeting in his dismissed $400 million countersuit, stating that an “angry” Reynolds “screamed at Baldoni and accused him of fat-shaming his wife,” allegedly demanding, “How dare you f—ing ask about my wife’s weight? What’s wrong with you?”

Baldoni’s side claimed the “confrontation by Reynolds and Lively was so aggressive that Baldoni felt he had no choice but to offer repeated (and completely unwarranted) apologies.”

Separately, Taylor Swift’s involvement has also been disputed. Her representative previously distanced her from the film, stating she “never set foot on the set” and was not involved in creative decisions, noting her only connection was “permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet’.”
