Nigerian recording artist and producer SoTrap has joined forces with Terry Apala to release “Tropicana,” a vibrant new anthem dedicated to cultural pride and resilience.
Based in the South-South region of Nigeria, SoTrap is carving a niche for himself by blending melodic trap with Afro-fusion and urban storytelling. His music often reflects the dualities of his environment, balancing the grit of the street hustle with the richness of his local heritage.

From its opening chant, “Delta boy tropicana,” the track firmly establishes its roots in the community. The collaboration paints a vivid portrait of the Niger Delta, weaving in specific mentions of Isoko, Urhobo, Ijaw and Itsekiri traditions.
The lyrics serve as a cultural tapestry, referencing traditional attire such as red and black caps, walking sticks and local garb. In the context of the song, these are not merely fashion choices but symbols of authority and the confidence derived from one’s origins.
The production of “Tropicana” is designed for the dancefloor; upbeat and “festival-ready”. However, beneath the energetic rhythm lies a deeper message of transformation.
“Grinding like we do cassava / Turn am to starch and banga”. Such lines elevate everyday labour into metaphors for hard work and success. By grounding his swagger in real-life experience, SoTrap ensures the track remains authentic while celebrating the journey from the hustle to international recognition.
“Tropicana” is available now for streaming on all major platforms.
