Seun Kuti launches “Bird’s Eye View” podcast with OkayAfrica, Bro Diallo

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, has launched a bold new podcast, “Bird’s Eye View,” co-hosted with Pan-Africanist activist Bro Diallo and produced by leading digital platform OkayAfrica.

Known for his uncompromising stance and willingness to challenge the status quo, the Grammy-nominated musician is bringing his revolutionary energy from the stage to the microphone. The new show promises to be a fearless forum for crucial, often difficult, discussions centred on Pan-Africanism, the impact of capitalism and the global state of Black communities.

The timing of “Bird’s Eye View” aligns with growing calls from the African diaspora and the continent for influential figures to move beyond consumerist discourse and address the pressing issues affecting Black communities worldwide. Kuti, who has built his career on such advocacy, is answering this call.

The podcast, which premiered on September 1, 2025, has already generated significant buzz, with audiences praising its commitment to “raw truth” and bold conversations. The show seeks to serve as a mirror for Africans everywhere, challenging listeners to question their beliefs about what truly serves the advancement of their global communities.

The collaboration with OkayAfrica is a strategic move, providing Kuti’s powerful voice with an established infrastructure and expertise-a resource often sought by African creatives. OkayAfrica, led by Areya Media CEO and former CNN journalist Isha Sesay, is doubling down on its commitment to bolstering strong, honest African voices.

This move follows the platform’s success with “Afrobeats Intelligence presented by OkayAfrica,” which has racked up over 2.2 million views on YouTube.

Sesay underscored the platform’s vision, stating, “Central to OkayAfrica’s mission… is building an intellectual bridge between Africans on the continent and in the diaspora. The decision to produce ‘Bird’s Eye View’ and amplify their voices to elevate conversations about important issues such as colonialism, capitalism and Africa’s progress was a no brainer!”

“Bird’s Eye View” streams on YouTube, offering candid, historically informed and engaging conversations that make complex political and social topics accessible.
