Servio Gbadamosi publishes 2nd poetry collection ‘Entropy’ with Noirledge

Servio Gbadamosi has published Entropy: Poems, his second collection, under the Noirledge Publishing imprint in Ibadan.

The collection, which is accompanied by an ebook edition, follows the Nigerian poet’s debut, A Tributary in Servitude, which drew praise for its engagement with Yoruba cosmological and oral traditions, and his critically acclaimed second collection, Where the Light Enters You.

Reviewers of the new work note that the poet returns with a deepened voice, one attentive to the fragility of human endurance. According to poet and scholar Ismail Bala, author of Memory of Departure, Entropy examines decay and persistence simultaneously, unfolding in cycles rather than definitive endings; a collection, he says, of unusual depth and quiet that finds order even amid chaos.

The volume has attracted endorsements from several prominent figures in Nigerian letters. Tade Ipadeola, winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature in 2013, describes Gbadamosi as a poet of the ineffable whose work stands apart from contemporaries. Jude Idada, the 2019 Nigeria Prize for Literature winner, calls the collection a must-read for readers seeking answers to questions that silence conceals.

Poet Utibe Hanson writes that the poems mirror the deepest sadnesses of their author, comparing the reading experience to letters written by a dying man. Tosin Gbogi, author of Locomotifs and Other Songs, argues that the collection reasserts the ethical role of art in times of crisis, describing the poems as fingering the jagged edges of sorrow and silence.

S. Su’eddie Vershima Agema, poet and author of Memory and the Call of Waters, positions Entropy as emotionally charged work drawing from ancestral and communal wisdom while confronting contemporary realities.
