Robin S has recently released a new single titled “What About U” featuring James Worthy. Written and produced by James Worthy, Ronell Sessoms and Robin S herself, this release marks the singer’s comeback single and her first music release in 2023.
The song, which follows the success of Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” single, which samples Robin S’s song “Show Me Love”, is available on all streaming platforms through Humble Sound Music Group. The release of “What About U” also kicks off the 30th anniversary of “Show Me Love”.
“What About U”, whose music video was released on Robin S’s official YouTube channel on June 4, 2023, has been described as embodying the essence of conversations where music is the driving force.
Robin S’ 1993 dance track “Show Me Love” was an instant hit, soaring to the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 that summer.
The Queens, NY native, born Robin Stone, was working as an office administrator and singing on the side when producers Allan George and Fred McFarlane asked her to record a demo of their song, “Show Me Love.” The original version dropped in 1990 with barely any buzz and, as Stone admitted, “flopped.” But Swedish DJ Stonebridge saw potential in the track and got to work on a few remix versions.
