Robert De Niro, 79, has welcomed another child making him the father of seven.
A representative for De Niro confirmed the birth to The Associated Press on Tuesday but said no other details were expected.
At a film premiere Tuesday night, De Niro told The Associated Press about becoming a father again: “It’s always good and mysterious and you don’t know what the hell is going to happen.”
The Oscar winner is also a parent to Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, from his first marriage; and twins, Julian and Aaron, 27; Elliot, 24; and Helen Grace, 11, from his second marriage.
According to Parade, Tiffany Chen is the mother of De Niro’s newborn.
It turns out, the outlet writes, that she is a martial arts instructor who sometimes works as an actress and it is believed that the two met on the set of the 2015 movie The Intern.
“Like De Niro, Chen has built part of her career in Hollywood. In addition to The Intern, she also starred in a 2010 short titled Good Manners.
“Chen is also a martial arts instructor, and she used those skills in The Intern. Her official biography says: ‘Tiffany took up ballet, Hula dance, swimming and gymnastics at age five. She added praying mantis and a double knife form practice with her uncle Howard Lee. At age eight, she started figure skating. By age 11, she won three gold medals in regional Figure Skating Competitions.’ Chen has also won a number of awards in France, the United States and Vietnam,” says the report.
De Niro is a two-time Oscar winner for his supporting role in The Godfather: Part II and best actor in Raging Bull. In 2011, he was also honoured with the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award for his impact on the world of entertainment and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom five years later.
De Niro is currently promoting the new comedy About My Father, which opens on May 26.
