Rema’s “Calm Down” has become the UK’s Number 1 Trending Song, as the track climbs its way into the Official Singles Chart Top 10 for the first time.
The Afrobeats wunderkind has been a star on the rise for a long while, but his first proper breakthrough single marks this next year as potentially the most exciting of his career yet.
According to officialchart.com, “Calm Down” is a chart force to be reckoned with and after slowly planting itself inside the UK Top 20 for the past few weeks – so far peaking at Number 16 – the track is scheduled to leapfrog its way into the UK Top 10 this Friday, which would be the first of Rema’s career.
It’s been helped along the way by the issuing of a charismatic remix of the song featuring vocals from Official Charts favourite Selena Gomez, helping Rema crossover to an entire new audience in the meantime.
There are further debuts from YouTuber Ishowspeed (World Cup), Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot (I’ll Be Waiting) and…uh…two-time heavyweight boxing world champion Tyson Fury, who has covered Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, to raise money for men’s mental health charity TalkClub.
