Rapper Ca$h Out gets life sentence for sex trafficking

Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out, whose real name is John Gibson, has been sentenced to life in prison plus 70 years after being found guilty of rape, RICO, and sex trafficking charges, per vibe.com. His mother, Linda Smith, received a 30-year sentence, and his cousin, Tyrone Taylor, was also sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the criminal enterprise.

The convictions follow a two-month trial in which prosecutors presented evidence, including text conversations from multiple cell phones, demonstrating that the trio coerced and exploited women into sex work over a seven-year period. Prosecutors argued that Gibson’s celebrity status, gained from hit songs like “Cashin’ Out” and “She Twerkin’,” was used to facilitate what they described as a “reign of terror.”

“This ain’t just straight pimping—this is trafficking,” stated Fulton County prosecutor Earnell Winfrey during the trial. The charges were initially brought against the family members in June 2023. Attempts by Ca$h Out’s legal team to discredit the women’s testimonies were unsuccessful.
