Quramo Writers Prize 2026 opens submissions for African fiction

Quramo Publishing has announced that submissions are now open for the 2026 Quramo Writers Prize, one of Africa’s most prestigious literary awards for fiction.

The prize, which champions bold and original storytelling, is calling on African writers across the globe to submit their work ahead of the May 31 closing date.

The prize is open to all African writers aged 18 and above, regardless of where they are based. Eligible submissions must be original works of fictional prose of no fewer than 50,000 words. Organisers have specified that self-published or electronically published works will not be considered for entry.

Writers wishing to enter may submit their manuscripts via the official submission portal at bit.ly/4kj4lgB.

Further details and updates can be found on the organisers’ official Instagram and X accounts, @quramoofficial.

The Quramo Writers Prize has long been regarded as a significant platform for amplifying African literary voices, with past editions drawing submissions from across the continent and the diaspora. The 2026 edition continues that tradition, reinforcing the publisher’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of African writers.
