Poetry Fund opens call for 2025 grants to amplify diverse voices

The Academy of American Poets, in collaboration with the Amazon Literary Partnership, is now accepting applications for its 2025 Poetry Fund grants, aimed at bolstering poetry organisations and presses across the United States. With a deadline of May 18, this initiative continues to champion diverse, marginalised, and underrepresented poets, offering vital support to help them create, publish, and thrive.

Since its inception in 2009, the Amazon Literary Partnership has disbursed over $17 million to empower writers, and the Poetry Fund, launched in 2018, has been a cornerstone of its mission to nurture poetry. This year’s grant panel includes luminaries like Glenis Redmond, Poet Laureate of Greenville, South Carolina, alongside Bernard Schwartz and Jessica Strand, ensuring a discerning selection process. Recipients will be announced by June 27.

The Academy of American Poets, a titan in the literary world, annually awards over $1.3 million through its prize programmes and operates Poets.org, the globe’s most visited publicly funded poetry platform. It also spearheads National Poetry Month and publishes Poem-a-Day, cementing its role as a cultural force. The Poetry Fund aligns with these efforts, fostering organisations that elevate poetry’s societal impact.

Interested applicants can apply at the Amazon Literary Partnership’s dedicated portal and explore last year’s recipients on poets.org.
