Pete Davidson is opening up about his dramatic tattoo removal journey, sharing the deeply personal motivation behind his transformation and the eye-watering price tag that comes with it.
The Saturday Night Live alum, who first revealed his ink-free arms in a Reformation ad earlier this year, told variety.com that his decision stems from a desire to leave his past struggles behind.
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” Davidson admitted. “So I’m just removing them and starting fresh, because that’s what I think works best for me and for my brain.”
The process, which he began in 2020, is far from over. With only 30% completed after spending a staggering $200,000, Davidson estimates it will take another decade to erase most of his 200 tattoos. Describing the painful procedure as “like putting your arm on a grill,” he joked that the hefty cost “is gonna suck.”
While he plans to keep a few sentimental pieces, the King of Staten Island star sees the removal as a symbolic step in his sobriety journey. Fans can expect more updates as Davidson continues his transformation both inside and out.
