Perminder Mann, one of London’s most prominent women CEOs, has been named the new CEO of Simon & Schuster International, effective May 1, per publishingperspectives.com. Mann, who has led Bonnier Books UK since 2017, will succeed Ian Chapman, who announced his departure on February 17.
Mann’s appointment marks a significant moment for Simon & Schuster as it continues to expand its global footprint. She will oversee Simon & Schuster UK, Australia and India, with managing directors Dan Ruffino (Australia) and Sanjiv Gupta (India) reporting directly to her. Mann will also join the Simon & Schuster executive board and report to CEO Jonathan Karp.
Known for her dynamic leadership and frequent appearances at international publishing conferences, Mann expressed enthusiasm for her new role. “When Jonathan Karp offered me the opportunity to join Simon & Schuster at such a pivotal and exciting moment in their journey, it felt like the right time for me to embrace a new challenge,” she said.
Reflecting on her tenure at Bonnier Books UK, Mann highlighted her pride in building an “industry-leading culture” and publishing a wide range of bestselling titles. “Together, we’ve grown a dynamic, ambitious business that continues to thrive,” she added.
Simon & Schuster, with its rich publishing heritage and bold vision for the future, is poised for ambitious growth under Mann’s leadership. “I’m deeply honoured to play a role in shaping this next chapter,” she said, emphasising her commitment to authors, readers and the company’s global team.
