Paul McCartney’s unseen Beatles photos headline new Gagosian LA exhibition

Never-before-seen images of The Beatles, captured by Paul McCartney himself, are set to be unveiled in an exhibition at the Gagosian Beverly Hills titled “Rearview Mirror: Photographs, December 1963–February 1964,” per faroutmagazine.co.uk. Opening April 25 and running through June 21, the exhibition features 36 rare photographs shot by McCartney during the explosive rise of Beatlemania, offering fans an exclusive backstage pass to pop culture history.

McCartney’s lens documented the band’s whirlwind journey through cities like London, Liverpool, Paris, New York, Miami and Washington, DC, as The Beatles rocketed to global superstardom. The collection includes candid portraits of John, Paul, George and Ringo, dynamic crowd scenes, and even early “selfies,” all reflecting the innocence and chaos of the era. Among the highlights is a stylistically blurred shot of Ringo Starr drumming at Miami Beach’s Hotel Deauville, snapped just before the band’s legendary Ed Sullivan Show appearance.

Each print in the exhibition is signed by McCartney and available in limited editions, with prices ranging from $15,000 into the high five figures.

A portion of the proceeds will support recovery efforts for recent Southern California wildfires, adding a philanthropic note to this cultural event.

Designed by acclaimed set designer Stefan Beckman, the show coincides with McCartney’s touring “Eyes of the Storm” exhibition, currently on display at San Francisco’s de Young Museum.
