Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr gave Beatles fans a night to remember on December 19 at London’s O2 Arena, per spin.com. In a surprise appearance during McCartney’s final 2024 tour show, the iconic duo performed two Beatles classics, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” This marked their first onstage reunion in over five years, thrilling the sold-out crowd.
“Should we rock?” McCartney teased as Starr’s drum kit was wheeled onstage, signaling a historic moment. The last time the surviving Beatles shared the stage was in July 2019 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium during McCartney’s Freshen Up tour.
The nostalgia didn’t stop there. McCartney played his original Hofner bass for the first time in over five decades. The iconic instrument, stolen in the 1970s and recently recovered, made its grand return during “Get Back.” Adding to the excitement, Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood joined as a surprise guest for the performance.
Both McCartney and Starr remain actively involved in Beatles projects. Last year, they released the track “Now and Then” and collaborated on the Disney+ documentary Beatles ’64, chronicling the band’s legendary first US.l visit.
While McCartney has yet to announce a 2025 tour, fans can anticipate a new album produced by Andrew Watt.
This unforgettable reunion solidifies the enduring magic of The Beatles, proving their music continues to unite generations.
