Paul McCartney documentary trailer explores life beyond The Beatles

Paul McCartney has offered a poignant glimpse into his post-Beatles journey with the release of the trailer for the upcoming documentary, “Man on the Run,” according to rollingstone.co.uk.

Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom), the film chronicles the legendary musician’s transition from the world’s biggest band to the formation of Wings. The trailer opens with a candid admission from McCartney: “The Beatles had been my whole life, really. When we split up, I thought, ‘I’ll never write another note of music, ever.’”

The documentary explores the profound influence of his late wife, Linda McCartney. Paul reveals that he struggled with depression following the band’s dissolution in 1970, noting, “I was very lucky because I had Linda.” The film tracks their 29-year marriage, which lasted until her death in 1998, and their creative partnership alongside bandmates Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell.

The narrative follows Wings through their formative years, moving from the lukewarm critical reception of their debut, Wild Life, to the global triumph of their third album, Band on the Run. “When we started Wings, it was about freedom,” McCartney explains. “We felt we’d finally arrived.”

Beyond the music, the film addresses the fractured relationship between McCartney and John Lennon. Reflecting on their final years together, Paul remarks, “Me and John, we were just growing apart, really. We’d had arguments and all of that, but we loved each other all our lives.”

Man on the Run is set to feature unseen home movies of the McCartney family, behind-the-scenes footage of Wings on tour and previously unreleased music from the era.

Producer Michele Anthony described the project as a story of “rediscovery,” focusing on how McCartney found his voice as a solo artist through his enduring love with Linda.
