Nicki Minaj has revealed plans for a third instalment in her iconic Pink Friday series, per billboard.com. The announcement, made over the weekend, comes as a surprise to fans who were eagerly anticipating the deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2, originally slated for release on September 13.
The rap superstar took to social media on Sunday to explain the change in plans. “Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album,” she tweeted. The rapper cited the exceptional quality of her recent recordings as the primary reason for this decision, stating, “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album.”
While details about “Pink Friday 3” remain scarce, Minaj promised fans an announcement regarding the release date within the next few weeks. She also assured that popular tracks like “Mamita” and the yet-untitled “anxiety song” will still be incorporated into her ongoing Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
The Queens-born artiste expressed deep appreciation for Pink Friday 2, her first album since becoming a mother.
“As my 1st album as #PapaBear mama, it’s just very special to me for so many reasons you guys aren’t aware of,” Minaj shared, explaining her decision to preserve the album’s integrity rather than adding new tracks.
This announcement comes amidst Minaj’s highly successful North American tour, which is set to conclude on October 11 in her home borough of Queens, New York. Pink Friday 2, released in December 2023, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, setting records for rap albums by women in the 2020s.
