Neighbours has been axed in the UK after Channel 5 bosses confirmed a huge switch up, Metro reports.
According to the report, the beloved Australian soap first hit screens in 1985 and has delighted fans ever since, with household names appearing in Ramsay Street – including Kylie Minogue, Liam Hemsworth, Jason Donovan, Alan Dale and Margot Robbie.
However, the future of the serial drama has been thrown into question after the broadcaster announced their plans to drop it from the schedule.
‘Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer,’ a spokesperson confirmed to Metro.co.uk in a statement.
‘It’s been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade, and we’d like to thank the cast, Fremantle and all of the production team for their fantastic work on this iconic series.
‘We’d also of course like to thank the fans for their loyal support of Neighbours across the years.
‘We recognise that there will be disappointment about this decision, however our current focus is on increasing our investment in original UK drama, which has strong appeal for our viewers.’
Neighbours has been a staple of the daytime TV schedule in the UK for years, and originally aired on BBC One until 2008, before it was moved to Channel 5.
